Today is the first day of autumn, my favorite season. Pinterest is full of cliche and chuckle-worthy quotes, but I can’t lie, I kind of love them. I love the cozy sweaters, the pumpkins and apples and spicy smells, leaves, hot cider, and the evening firewood scent that makes me feel all warm inside. In a way, fall feels like a new beginning.
This year, I’m especially excited to be in New England, which is what I think you’ll find if you look up “autumn” in the dictionary. Every year, we’d try to get out of NYC as often as we could for fall trips, and it was during our first long road trip that we discovered our current town and fell in love with it. I love October in NYC too, but I have a special place in my heart for farms, festivals, and rolling hills.
Last night, I made my first soup of the season – a leek, peanut, sweet potato soup that has definitely made it into the rotation for the colder months. Look out for the recipe on friday! It’s not original, but it is easy, healthy, and delicious, and that means that I love it! Tomorrow morning, we’ll be brewing a fall beer – wish us luck.
If you’re as fall-crazy as I am, feel free to follow me on Pinterest, where I spend more time looking for autumn-themed everything than I’m comfortable admitting. 😉 In the meantime, here are some of my favorite seasonal recipes, decorating ideas, and scenes. Happy first day of fall!
I love sangria and I love fall, so…this is a no brainer.
I’m not much of a DIY-er because I’m both lazy and not very crafty, but this I can get behind. I practically collect candles I love them so much, and this seems like a relatively easy project to accomplish!
I’m not a fan of flavored creamers because of all the sugar and various additives, so something I can whip up on my own is ideal! I love the third one in this list, which is a cinnamon vanilla bean creamer.
All other seasonal fanatics say aye. Happy autumn!
