Hello, everyone! A few weeks ago, I shared a Strawberry Mint “Lemonade” recipe with the promise of an alcoholic version coming soon. Today is that day! There’s a summer rain currently passing through and it’s the middle of a Tuesday – not prime cocktail conditions. That gives you something to look forward to on Friday! As always, I’ve made this as healthy as possible. You won’t find any sugar, mixers, or other unnatural additions here. What you will find is a delicious, slightly sweet, strawberry and minty explosion of flavors that come from real ingredients. I loved this cocktail so much that I still haven’t stopped thinking about it, and it’s sure to become a summer staple in our house.
I will preface this recipe with the fact that there is a fair amount of strawberry and mint “pulp” in this cocktail, so if you don’t like bits of berries in your drinks, feel free to strain them out before drinking. I love getting to the end and having some strawberries waiting for me at the bottom, but to each their own!
3-4 strawberries, quartered
3-4 mint leaves
1/2 oz of honey, or more to taste
1 oz gin of your choice
1 oz vodka of your choice
1/2 oz lemon or lime juice (fresh or bottled is okay)
Place a cocktail glass into the freezer for a few minutes.
In a shaker, muddle strawberries, mint, and honey together until you reach a syrupy consistency.
Fill with ice cubes, and add gin, vodka, and lemon or lime juice.
Pour into an iced cocktail glass, sans ice.
The result should be a refreshing cocktail that isn’t overly alcoholic or sweet, but a perfect mix of strawberries, mint, citrus, and a honey, and obviously, a little bit of a kick. Happy Summer!
